Video Issues

Regular readers (both of you) will have noticed that the video formats and styles change regularly.  This is due to issues with getting the video links to play across devices and operating systems.  Right now, videos are posted in both FLV and MP4 format, but Android and iOS devices appear to have some difficulty displaying the MP4 files automatically.  Until this is fixed, separate links to the MP4 files will be provided along with the FLVs.

This installation of WordPress uses the Stream Video Player plug-in from Rodrigo Polo.  Advice on properly configuring the plug-in to display the FLV and MP4 files for all devices would be welcome in the comments.

  1. I’d like to offer help but seems we’ve setup our WP installs differently. I use the “FLV Embed” plugin & convert all formats over to that format before posting. It’s been so long I forget why I did this, but perhaps it was due to incompatibility issues similar to what you’re experiencing 🙂

I think if I had to do it over again, and if I were still writing and posting video, I might look into a modern standard like HTML5 using a WebM or Theora formatted video…
